This varies based on type of coat, length of cut, and the pet's lifestyle. On average, every 4-8 weeks is recommended, with regular nail trims and combing in between appointments.
All of our dogs are dropped off between 8-10am and are ready for pick-up throughout the day. When you make an appointment, you can let us know when you'd like to pick up your dog. As a general rule, if you don't set a pick-up time before the day of your appointment, dogs will go home in the order they came in. Since hands-on time for each dog can vary based on size and condition of the coat, we cannot guarantee a pick-up time unless it's set before the day of your appointment. A large dog with dense coat or an elderly dog that needs a little extra love may be scheduled with a set pick-up time; in these events, dogs without preferred pick-up will go home later in the day. Check out our Services & Pricing page for more info on express grooming.
We try to book dogs with the same groomer to build a relationship between the two, making your dog more comfortable and used to the routine. Based on availability, having the same groomer isn't guaranteed unless you request them specifically.
Our grooming room is visible from the lobby and we encourage customers take a tour of our clean facilities. However, if your dog can see you, this usually leads to the dog trying to be with you and generally causes them to be anxious and fidgety. Our groomers work with sharp tools and want to prioritize your pet's safety by avoiding additional stress and excitement. If you need to watch the entire time, you should talk with the groomer before your appointment.
Yes, for your pet's safety and our own, all dogs are crated when not on the table or in the tub. If your dog doesn't do well in a kennel, please let us know before making the appointment so we can work together to ensure everyone's comfort and satisfaction.
Once your puppy has two rounds of vaccines and is cleared by the vet for grooming (usually around 12-16 weeks), we can start working right away! It's a good idea to introduce puppies to grooming at a young age to get them used to the sounds and smells of the salon and encourage good grooming habits at home.
Most of our dogs are hand dried with a variable speed, high velocity dryer. This allows us to get a better finished look and gives us a chance to get a good look at your dog’s skin to asses any potential health issues. If your dog does not tolerate this method, they will have to cage dry with room-temperature fans. We do NOT use heated cage dryers and all cages are open to allow air flow and prevent overheating.
Absolutely, although our top-rated product line is designed to promote a healthy coat and skin. If your veterinarian has prescribed or suggested an alternate shampoo, we will gladly use it.
